Changes in Credit Bureau requirements have made it harder for small, individual landlords to get full credit reporting information about their potential tenants. Even for small landlords who have set themselves up as a business entity, they now are subject to inspections and a host of other stringent requirements.
Companies like E-Renter have stepped up to provide an excellent level of service to not only commercial accounts, but small landlords, as well. They are able to offer a specialized service to landlords to evaluate potential renters more thoroughly than without this type of service. Their service is reasonably priced, and in most cases, landlords charge this to tenants as part of the application fee.
We would NEVER rent to a prospective tenant without doing a credit and background check first… and neither should any landlord or property manager that values their business!
